A Building Designed with Wellness in Mind

As part of our Wellness focus this week, we wanted to tell you a bit more about the design decisions behind the renovation of our building.

The building is 135 years old and is blessed with beautiful high ceilings and huge opening sash windows. The means our offices are bright spaces filled with abundant natural light. As part of the works, all the sash windows are being renovated solar reflective film; this will stop intense heat from the sun but keep the natural light.

The sunlight that floods into our WRAP building means that the need for artificial lighting during daytime hours is reduced and therefore the building’s environmental impact is lowered.

Calming, natural paint colours, in shades of green and cream with accents of bright yellow will ensure our spaces are bright and welcoming and will help light reflect throughout the space. We are using a matte finish on the walls and desks that will absorb any glare.

We are choosing finishes that will keep toxic fumes at bay. Our paints are eco-friendly and water based. Our desk tops are made of Linoleum – which is made from 97% natural raw material. It is completely non-toxic and has a beautiful smell of linseed oil.

Being on a hill, our building has a wonderful vantage point. Many of the rooms have incredible views over the Brighton roof tops (including The Pavillion) and down to the beach and the sea. What better for a break from work, a moment of inspiration and to help you feel calmer, healthier and more productive.

We are maximising the benefits of natural light in the office spaces by including biophilic elements. All coworking spaces will have an abundance of indoor plants; in pots, planters and trailing down walls. There are even plans for our nursery space to have a living green wall! Not only will this help spaces feel more vibrant, natural and connected to nature – but these living plants help to improve the air quality. The purification work done by our indoor plants will be boosted by a HVAC system that promotes healthy air exchange.
