Settling In
At WRAP all new children have two settling sessions. The settling sessions are usually one hour long.
1st Session
At the first session you will come into nursery with your little one and stay with them for around 30 minutes. You will meet and talk to your child’s Key Person and talk through your little one’s All About Me (completed a few days before you join us). You will then leave your child at nursery with their Key Person to enable them to start to build that all important bond.
2nd Session
The second settling session mirrors more of a usual nursery session. You will be met by your child’s Key Person at the door and leave your little one with them for one hour. But don’t worry, we will send you photos and an update of your little one having lots of fun with their new friends. This is sent via the Famly App - so a good chance for you to start to see how we will use it to keep you up to date with your child’s progress at nursery.
After these your child stays with us for a full session and starts their amazing nursery journey with us.
FAQs
Why only two Settling Sessions, aren’t more better?
We have found that if the parent keeps coming into the nursery it is actually more confusing and unsettling for the child. It is better that we get into the swing of our normal routine of nursery life as soon as possible, and that your child has a chance to meet and bond with their Key Person and all the new friends they are going to make.
Will I be able to contact you to ask how my child is getting on?
Yes, of course! Our incredible team know about the importance of building strong attachments with the children and they have had extensive training in this field and regularly keep this training up to date. You will find them very supportive and able to give lots of reassurance and advice as your family goes through this important transition.
You will be regularly updated and also receive lots of photos through our Parent Portal, Famly
What if my child doesn’t settle?
This hasn’t yet happened at WRAP! But we will keep you up to date with how your child is getting on and if they are taking a while to settle we will come up with a plan to help them, with your support of course. Your little one is very welcome to bring in an item from home, perhaps a comforter, favourite toy, something of yours.
We want you to feel comfortable and reassured with us so we are always here to help and support in any way we can as your family goes through this important transition.
